My interest in Pilates began 19 years ago when a GP recommended I try it to alleviate lower back pain that I suffered during pregnancy. Pilates at the time was relatively new but I found that it really helped to ease my back and also to strengthen my stomach muscles and pelvic floor. I continued with classes right up to the birth of my daughter and then returned to them soon after.
Over time, I realised that lots of people I knew, who had various health problems, would also benefit from practising Pilates. That is when I decided to train as a teacher so that I could help others by sharing the benefits. I trained with the Body Control Pilates Association in London and qualified as a Level 3 Matwork Teacher in July 2011.
I am also now a Supervising Teacher in the Essex area and help students with their teaching hours required for the BCP course.
